Qatar participates in the Quran competition at Moscow

Qatar participated in an international Quaran competition. Qatar was represented by the contestant Hamad Abdullah Al-Jamili. The competition was held in Moscow, the capital city of Russia and will go till 11 November 2023.

On behalf of the Qatar Ministry of the Endowment and Islamic Affairs, participants represented Qatar in its twenty-first session. This was a Quran memorization competition, and all the participants in the competition had to recite the Quran orally.

The contestant of the Qatar Hamad Abdullah Al-Jamili was accompanied by Mr Masoud Jarallah Salem Abu Sharida, who was also the head of the delegation. A large number of the participants took part in the competition. Participants from Russian and many other countries participated in the competition. The competition will go up until 11 November 2023. The objective of the competition is to make the youth familiar with the teachings of the Quran.

It is to be specifically mentioned that these competition activities were conducted under the supervision of the Shura Council of Muftis, along with the religious administration of the Muslims of the Russian Federation.

Director of the Department of Da’wah and Religious Guidance, Mal Allah Abdul Rahman Al-Jaber, explained that participation of Qatar in this competition started from the fifteenth edition onwards.  On the occasion, contestant Muhammad Yahia Teher participated in the reciting and intonating of the holy Quran.  Al-Jaber emphasized that the ministry always encourages the country’s youth to participate in this kind of competition relating to the holy Quran.

It is worth mentioning that in the past ministry also took part in many competitions, including the Algeria competition, the King Abdulaziz International Competition in Mecca, the Malaysia competition, the Morocco competition, the Croatia competition, and the Kazakhstan competition.
Moreover, the ministry is also preparing for the next Quran competition, which will be held in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Egypt Quran competition will be held in the month of December 2023.
