Dominica: The serving Prime Minister for the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, shared his words on the launch of the new marina for Portsmouth. The prime minister announced the launching ceremony of the much-anticipated project that is scheduled for Saturday, 25 May.
The announcement of the grand ceremony of the new marina for Portsmouth by PM Roosevelt Skerrit was made during his appearance in the recent parliamentary session. The project was one if the much talked things in the nation which is finally completed and ready for being equipped on the field.
Roosevelt Skerrit said in his statement while revealing the launch, “Another major project, we will have a groundbreaking ceremony by the Grace of God on May 25, for the groundbreaking ceremony for the Marina in Portsmouth.”
It is mentioned that the marina project was a part of long-term vision for the nation. It was planned while keeping in mind about the requirement and possibility of reliable development in Portsmouth, a town of Dominica along the northwestern coast of the island. Along with this, the development of Cabrits was also considered in the plan which is located in the recent north of Portsmouth.
As per the reports, the intention behind the implementation of the new marina in Portsmouth was to help in the flow of boats and cruises coming to the nation. It will also assist the capacity of the island nation to host more incoming water ships and cruises. As the nation is widely popular for its tourism, the project is also expected to increase the flow of cruises with the perspective of tourism on the island and along its coast.
It is said that the government of Dominica chose the coast of Portsmouth for the new marina project due to its worthy location. It is disclosed that the reason behind the introduction of the grand marina project in Portsmouth was its gifted geographical location which is filled with natural amenities. The coast was found to be the perfect place that was supporting the requirements of the project to fulfil the expectations that could be used better in a strategic way.
With the announcement of the completion of the major Portsmouth marina project, PM Skerrit also mentioned about other projects that are coming on the way. He talked about the plans for one other such project of the marina for the Roseau South Constituency, on which the government officials are having a discussion.
The government of Dominica is also working on multiple major development projects which are intended to boost the growth of the island nation. PM Roosevelt Skerrit mentioned about these projects in his words in which a new cargo port is designated for the Canefield Industrial Site, which will be an extended part of the plan for a cruise village.
The PM said, “When we get all these things, the international airport, and the marina, then geothermal coming in, and the cruise ship village, the new cargo port with the modern technology that you require, and all these new hotels that we are building finally opened, now all we need is for ourselves is to work together.”
