St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew along with the Cabinet Ministers visited the primary schools in Basseterre. They have spent a productive day visiting schools and connecting with the children, who represent the bright future of the Federation.
Reportedly, Students of the various public and private primary schools in the Basseterre zone got their chance to meet and interact with the members of the Federal Cabinet and invited the ambassadors on September 12, 2024 as part of the annual Cabinet Ministers School Visits.
The visit commenced as a part of the annual Cabinet Ministers School Visits. It was led by the Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew. Along with the Cabinet Ministers he visited the Deane Glasford Primary School, the Hallida-Smith Primary School (which was formerly known as The Irish Town Primary School).
They also visited the Epworth/Maurice Hillier Memorial, Beach Allen Primary School, the George Moody Stuart School (Factory School), Seventh Day Adventist Primary and the Tucker Clarke Primary Schools.
The annual Cabinet Ministers School Visits concluded on September 17, 2024 when the ministers of government go to the secondary schools and Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC).
In a possible way to transform the education system of St. Kitts and Nevis, government is putting efforts to meet the needs of a modern society. They are sharing their ideas with students across St. Kitts along with various ministers of government during the annual Independence Cabinet Schools Visits.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Senior Minister – Dr. Denzil Douglas, shared with the students at the Saddler’s Primary School that education plays a crucial role in the development and progress of a nation.
Minister Douglas stated during the traditional Cabinet Schools Visits, which began on September 05, 2024, that they believe, education is critically important to advance the people so that ten, fifteen or twenty years from now, the one who are the students of Saddler’s and the students around the entire country, will be proud to represent themselves in the older years, as one become the ministers of government and they become retired citizens.
He mentioned that he understands, why education is important, because of which they say that one must prepare themselves for the future.
Dr. Douglas highlighted the education landscape in the Federation which is being transformed with new initiatives that are designed to ensure the local students are as competitive as their peers around the globe.
As per the sources, these changes have brought a fresh wave of innovation to learning. Utilising smart learning tools in the classroom are revamping the aspects of the primary and secondary school curricula. It has improved much by introducing the ground-breaking courses at the C.F. Bryant College.
This expanded the scholarships for higher education and technical training and established the additional partnerships with top regional and global universities.
Dr. Douglas added that education is critical to the survival of the independent country and person, the citizens must understand that one has a role to play.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew praised the principals, teachers and supported staff at various schools across St. Kitts and Nevis for their dedication and tireless efforts, especially for nurturing the nation’s children.
He emphasized the significance of the country’s sovereignty, approximately 41 years ago (September 19, 1983) and advised the students to dream big and work diligently to accomplish their aspirations, and added to the celebration of national achievements.
