Saint Lucia: Ernest Hilaire, the tourism and investment minister of Saint Lucia, expressed his vision and planning on increasing trade and new direct flights with nations of the South American continent in his recent appearance.
In his statement, Minister Ernest Hilaire mentioned that the government of Saint Lucia is already involved in the talked with Venezuela in the direction since last year. However, the plans got delayed due to need of feeder flights from other South American countries.
Right now, a team from the island nation is in Colombia talking with airlines to figure out how to make these flights happen. Minister Hilaire thinks having flights from Venezuela is not only good for tourists but also for doing business with South America.
Minister Ernest Hilaire also thinks they might be able to add flights to Panama, which could bring even more benefits to the nation. At the same time, Ernest Hilaire is happy about other recent changes, like more flights offered by Inter Caribbean Airways.
Even after, now not that much people are travelling as there were before the corona pandemic, the island of Saint Lucia is still trying to get more flights in and out of the country.
As per current reports, the Inter Caribbean Airways is planning to begin flights to Martinique very soon and after that to Trinidad and Tobago. This is necessary move because there are not any flights between Saint Lucia and Martinique flying for now.
Martinique used to be a major market for tourists coming to the island nation. Anyhow, there are boats operating between Saint Lucia and Martinique, still the flights will make it easier for the visitors to visit the island nation.
Minister Hilaire and the government are working on making this happen soon so that Saint Lucia can benefit from more tourists coming from Martinique and other nearby places.
In short, the island nation of Caribbean is working hard to get more flights and do more business with South America. They believe this will help the country grow and bring more opportunities for everyone.
