Makkah, Saudi Arabia – Ten Pakistani nationals have been arrested in connection with a series of financial fraud operations that targeted unsuspecting victims across the Makkah Al Mukarramah Region.
The suspects were involved in 31 fraudulent incidents, managing to defraud individuals of a staggering total of more than 2.8 million riyals.
The fraud scheme, which involved the illegal exchange of gold, saw the culprits employ a highly deceptive method to trick their victims. In the negotiation phase, the fraudsters presented what appeared to be pure and intact gold bars, gaining the trust of their targets.
However, after the deals were struck, the victims were handed counterfeit gold-like coins, believing they were dealing in genuine gold. The victims, unaware of the scam, unknowingly bought the fake gold at illegal rates.
This fraudulent tactic was repeated multiple times, leading to the loss of millions of riyals. With each operation, the scammers moved quickly, vanishing before their victims could realize they had been duped.
Despite their efforts to evade detection, the police eventually caught up with them after an extensive investigation and a concerted effort to combat financial fraud.
The breakthrough came when authorities received several complaints from victims who had fallen prey to the scam. After conducting a series of raids and gathering evidence, the police were able to identify and apprehend the ten suspects involved in the scheme.
The individuals are believed to have been operating in multiple locations across the region, carrying out their operations under the radar for an extended period.
The Makkah police, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, intensified efforts to tackle financial fraud in the region.
Their investigation revealed that the suspects had been using various methods to carry out the scam, including fraudulent advertisements and fake documentation to lure in potential victims.
In some cases, the fraudsters posed as legitimate gold dealers, further reinforcing the illusion of legitimacy.
Authorities have confirmed that legal actions have been initiated against the suspects, who have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and prosecution.
The swift arrest of the perpetrators highlights the effectiveness of the region’s security efforts in addressing financial crimes and protecting the public from fraudulent activities.
In a statement, the Makkah police urged residents and businesses to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
They also advised the public to exercise caution when engaging in financial transactions, especially when dealing with unfamiliar parties or offers that seem too good to be true.
The case serves as a reminder of the growing threat of financial fraud and the importance of protecting oneself from such scams.
The Makkah police continue to monitor the situation closely and are committed to ensuring that those responsible for such fraudulent activities are held accountable for their actions.
