Ottawa, Canada: The Liberal MP (Member of Parliament) Sameer Zuberi has called the cabinet of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to extend support towards the motion to make room in its refugee intake for 10,000 Uyghur and other Turkic groups living in third countries like Turkey who fled China, says the report of ANI (Asia News International).
As per the updates, MP Zuberi has shown his interest and support for the minorities where stating, “We support the motion of taking in the needed refugees from Uyghurs along with the other minorities in the region, who have suffered violation and exploitation of the human rights form the Chinese government”.
Sameer Zuberi adopted the initiative in the Parliament session held last year while the declaration that the Chinese Government is violating and committing genocide against the people of Uyghurs and other minorities.
He further added, “The issue calls the attention of the department of immigration, refugees and citizenships to allow the entry of “10,000 Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims who needs protection from past two years starting in 2024” into Canada.
The Chinese Government has been committing human rights violations towards the population of Xinjiang community, largely Muslim as well as other minorities, says Right group report.
The Chinese administration has also forced Uyghur into labour and relocation to work in different provinces. In contrast, critics have stated that it is the latest level in government-directed efforts to exert control in Xinjiang.
Furthermore, MP Zuberi stated, “The Vote of the cabinet should be in favour of the motion which would resettle the condition in Uyghur”. The cabinet will vote on the motion M-62 scheduled for Wednesday in the House of Commons, and Zuberi is encouraging the other officials to support the cause, said reports.
Moreover, according to the human rights group report, over one million Uyghurs are currently captured in prisons-like indoctrination camps, also called re-education camps in Beijing.
In addition, most people who belong to minorities have fled to Muslim countries such as Pakistan, Egypt Saudi Arabia since 2016.
Currently, the World Uyghur Congress President is visiting Canada for Motion-62, supported and uplifted by the Friends of Canada-India Foundation, said ANI reports.
