St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew acknowledged The Joy Project for its contribution to women and children’s health and showing the kind gesture on World Health Day.
The initiative by The Joy Project was led by Diani Jimesha Prince-Drew. He also shared the glimpses from the gathering and stated that he took this opportunity to thank The Joy Project for its kind contribution to women and children’s health on World Health Day.
Reportedly, on the occasion of World Health Day, this year, in total, The Joy Project proudly donated three laptops and three mobile phones to the Ministry of Health, in order to show support to its Maternal Care Navigator Program and played their significant part.
Moreover, it was a timely and purposeful contribution that will directly support the three newly appointed Maternal Care Navigators, out of which two of them are based in St. Kitts and one in Nevis. As they begin their vital work of improving outcomes for mothers and newborns across the Federation.
Notably, the laptops distributed were part of a generous gift of 30 laptops that were received by The Joy Project, gifted by the Chairman of the Global Brands Group of Companies – Mario Sabga-Aboud that included several popular franchises, such as Rituals Coffee House, Pizza Boys, Ah’len and Wok n’ Roll.
As per the sources, the Maternal Care Navigators, all trained midwives, will serve as resource persons and advocates for pregnant women, especially the ones, who are likely to suffer with high-risk pregnancies. Also, the navigators will guide the pregnant women through the whole pregnancy process, delivery as well as the postpartum period.
The Joy Project has also expressed that they are proud to partner with the Ministry of Health on such an important and impactful program. According to them, St. Kitts and Nevis is the only nation that can help them in achieving their ambition and will support them in whatever facilities they need.
The initiatives included, the reintroduction of perinatal reviews and the launch of a groundbreaking Maternity Care Navigator (MCN) programme. It reflected the deep commitment of the government towards the theme of this year’s observance – ‘Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures’.
Prime Minister Terrance Drew, spoke with conviction and compassion during his national address to commemorate World Health Day 2025. Considering this, PM Drew emphasised the essential role that maternal and child health plays in building a stronger, and more resilient nation. He concluded by saying that when they invest in maternal and newborn health, they are not merely delivering the medical services, they are also delivering hope. They are planting the seeds of a healthier and more resilient nation.
