The Prime Minister of Israel, Yair Lapid, updated on his official social media handle that the parliament of Azerbaijan has decided to open an embassy in Israel.
Lapid expressed his best wishes and greetings to welcome the Azarbaijan embassy in Israel. The Prime minister stated that Azerbaijan had been an essential partner to Israel. Furthermore, Azerbaijan has been home to one of the largest Jewish communities in the Muslim world.
“The decision of the parliament of Azerbaijan to open an embassy in Israel is yet another acknowledgement and reflection of the depth of connection between the two nations”. He noted. Israel was considered one of the first countries to recognize the independent Republic of Azerbaijan.
Yair Lapid (@yairlapid) November 18, 2022
Lapid further expressed gratitude and complimented on behalf of Israel to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijani, Ilham Aliyev.
The alliance between Israel and Azerbaijan has been a progressive connection to build solid political bridges with the Muslim world. Azerbaijan will become the first Shi’ite Muslim country to have an embassy in the Jewish state.
Previously Azerbaijan had set up their tourist offices in Israel. However, there has been no embassy in Israel to avoid provoking Azerbaijan’s other neighbour Iran. Both countries had been sharing a deep history following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, after which both the nations have been an allay for one another and exchanged substantial military aid.
The bilateral relationship between Azerbaijan and Israel was formed on a genuine connection and support. Moreover, opening an embassy in Israel would further strengthen their longstanding alliance. The Azerbaijani people would get accurate guidance during their travel to Israel. Through this step, both countries are looking to increase trade, such as exports, imports, tourism etc., as per reports.
The two nations’ economies could be boosted by exchanging business and trade in the coming years. The Israeli Prime Minister stated that “our partnership with Azerbaijan is only going to get stronger in the future”.
