UAE: Dubai Police shared an update from the Department’s annual inspection held at the Canadian University under the surveillance of Lieutenant General and the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri.
Lieutenant Gen, Al-Marri was accompanied by the Expert Major General and Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation along with Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, along with several other senior officers and employees.
The annual inspection from the Dubai Police has shared that 576 families in the nation have been able to save their relatives who were dealing with drug abuse and addiction. As per the reports, such results have been achieved by implementing Article 89 of the New Anti-Narcotics Law.
In the recent analysis, around 576 families had reported their addict relatives so far over the past five years. UAE’s new Anti-Narcotics Article 89 has proved to be a significant factor in dealing with drug addiction in the United Arab Emirates.
Furthermore, “no criminal proceedings will be initiated against any abuser of narcotics or psychotropic substances which will present themselves or is presented by a family member to a rehab centre or Dubai Police”. Authorities said.
Moreover, during the meeting, Lieutenant General Al Marri praised and acknowledged the significant efforts made by the General Department of Anti-Narcotics.
He addressed the event that the Department of Anti-Narcotics has been taking the initiative through innovative new techniques and methods, which eventually help decrease and arrest drug dealers professionally and efficiently, resulting in the protection of our society against the scourge of drugs.
In the end, as per the latest results of the annual report, the General Department of Anti-Narcotics also seized 6 tons and 634 kilograms of drug pills.
The initiative directed the arrest of 46% of suspects involved in drug-related cases, and 47.2% of drugs were seized last year.
Moreover, per the current numbers provided by the General Department of Anti-Narcotics of Dubai, the awareness programmes launched by the Hemaya International Centre have benefited 11,781,038 beneficiaries of 50 different nationalities over the past year.
