Danny Shapira, Colonel (res), a legendary IAF (Israeli Air Force) pilot, passed away at 97 on Friday, December 9th. The officials from IAF extended their sincerest condolences to the Shapira Family.
Per the reports, Colonel Danny Shapira was born in 1925 in Jerusalem, Israel and was known as the founding father of the IAF (Israeli Air Force). The officials from the force have conveyed that he will be buried on Sunday, December 11th, at Morasha Cemetery in Ramat Hasharon.
Furthermore, the Israeli Air Force commander, Major General Tomer Bar, paid tribute to the heroic Pilot and said that” the IAF bows down its head at the sorrowful incident that happened to the Shapira family and to the nation.”
In remembrance of Danny, the IAF personnel shares some of the stories and achievements he had accomplished during his service period in love for his country. IAF officers said that Danny was a professional and brave fighter full of life.
He also played a significant role in training generations of new combatants who are now serving in the air force.
Moreover, he was remembered as the Pilot who proved himself as a test pilot on the groundbreaking path and became one of the first fighters of the Israeli Air Force who led the IAF towards a successful road.
Danny gave an interview to the Jerusalem Post in 2018 in which he stated” “I started when we didn’t have our own country, army or air force. We didn’t fight with weapons, but we fought with our hearts; we had to win,”
“The wish for freedom, sacrifice, dedication, and the dream to have our own country under our flag won the War of Independence.”
The IAF Major Tomar Bar conveyed his emotions on behalf of all IAF officers, “We will continue to commemorate his glorious legacy and accompany his family.
May his memory be blessed”.
