Egypt: Dr Yasmin Fouad, the Minister of Environment, met with the Head of the Waste Management Agency, Dr Tariq Al-Arabi, along with employees of the waste management apparatus yesterday, December 9th, where they discussed different ways to enhance the working mechanism in waste management instruments.
As per the updates, during the meeting, Dr Yasmin said that the environment ministry is working towards converting waste into investment opportunities which could result in sustainable management plans for destruction in Egypt.
She added, “The ministry will be introducing advance investment opportunities in the waste management field”.
Furthermore, Dr Yasmin took part in the interactive meeting to discuss various challenges, current difficult situations, and the workflow of the whole system. During the meeting, the workers were feeding the odds on the machines.
The environment minister has conveyed that in implementing the new waste management system, the enhanced devices and instruments hold great significance to complete the whole motive of turning waste into investment opportunities.
Moreover, during the conversation with the workers, she addressed the important requirements of the system, which include planning, organizing, and monitoring tasks, specifically when the waste management challenge is a national-level challenge for the country.
Additionally, Egypt has recently introduced a Waste Management Act that encourages the private sector and partners in the waste management system to implement the appropriate procedures, which will boost the system’s investment options through various incentives.
Dr Yasmin touched on various other files in the meeting, such as issues related to Hazardous waste, Electronic Waste and discussed solutions to deal with the matters with full efficiency along with providing the necessary funding and backing them.
She pointed out that the field of waste should be open to investment sectors along with the introduction of the latest technologies in the waste management system. The vision should be to find useful solutions for the difficulties and challenges that the workers are facing in the field of waste management.
In the end, the environment minister said that “The need to take advantage of the Waste Law, which is based on the principle of encouraging the rotating economy, activate the monitoring role of the device through continuous monitoring of the system”.
“The waste management agency’s focus on supporting technology, scientific research, attracting investments and funding from partners to push the waste management system in Egypt, to announce in the coming month’s new investment opportunities in the field of waste management”.
