Riyadh book fair with theme of “An Inspiring Destination” begins today

The largest of its kind Riyadh book fair began today. More than 1800 publishers are expected to participate in the event. The theme of the book fair will be “An Inspiring Destination”. The book fair will go on until October 7.

The country of Oman will be the guest of honour at this year’s book fair. In addition to it, 70 French firms will be represented through the”Lire en Francais a Riyadh” initiative.

Every year, lakhs of book lovers visit one of the largest book fairs in Riyadh. This year, book lovers are highly expected to flock to the book fair with its opening today.

Under the theme “An inspiring Destination”, the visitors will experience a diverse cultural journey till October 7 2023.

In an area of 55,000 square meters, 800 pavilions have been established, as per media reports.
Organisers of the event expected that more than one million people would visit this year to book fair. The visitors will have an opportunity to have a glance at over 25 pieces of rare manuscripts and collections on display.

Oman is a guest of the Honur country; as per the book fair’s organisers, Oman reflected the historical ties and cordial relations between Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman.
Being a guest of honour state , the pavilion of Oman will occupy a central position in the exhibition.

The Oman pavilion will showcase the books , manuscripts , and different kinds of items that celebrate the cultures of Oman.

The international publishers conference will be organised on the sidelines of the book fair on October 4.

It is worth mentioning that the conference will be sponsored by the Literature,publishing and Translation Commission.

The main topic of discussion will be the challenges faced by the book industry in the present time .

The conference will see speeches from prominent local and international book industry leaders and publishers of world best-selling books .

Organisers of the fair thanked ROSHAN , a national real developer who serving as a community partner to make the organisation of the book fair possible.

The King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture –also known as Ithra , the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, and the car rental company, Yelo, are partners of the event, whereas AL-Riyadh Centre for Political Strategic Studies are acting as cultural partners of the event.

Organisers hope that the book fair will be a successful event with the cooperation of all stakeholders and sponsors.
