Egypt: NMEC offers free guided tours on International Museum Day

Egypt: The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), on the auspicious occasion of International Museum Day, which falls on May 18, 2023, has organized free guided tours for national and international visitors and tourists to roam around the premises. 

The tours were guided under the supervision of Museum officials and specialized tourist guides.

According to the shared information, the officials from the National Museum of Egyptian Museum (NMEC) took to the museum’s official social media handle to extend updates to the visitors of Egypt and tourists. 

While sharing the update, the officials stated that “NMEC organized free guided tours for its Egyptian visitors on the occasion of International Museums Day.”

Furthermore, according to the update, it also read, “As part of the World Museum Day celebration, which is on May 18 every year, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization on Thursday, organized free guided tours for visitors and those interested in deaf and dumb Egyptians.”

Meanwhile, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization authorities have also shared other details and information regarding the schedule and timing of the tours to begin one day before. 

It was stated that “The tours will begin at 10 am to 4 pm, with museum secretaries accompanying visitors on tour inside the different halls of the museum, Dr Ahmed Ghanim.”

During the tours, several other officials were also present, including the museum’s executive, said Dr Ahmed Ghanem, the Museum’s Executive Director, said. Significance on a global level.

It was also stressed that the museum, in collaboration with the Builders of Egypt Digital Initiative, also conducted a live experience for visitors on augmented reality of a selection of the most prominent artefacts on display by a group of digital arts path students at the initiative.

In the end, it is notable that World Museum Day is held in coordination with the International Council of Museums, highlighting a different theme every year, aiming to emphasize the role of museums, and this year’s World Museum Day is launched under the title “Sustainability and Quality of Life.”
