Google’s doodle celebrates jordan’s Ain Ghazal statues anniversary

World topmost search engine celebrate the 40th discovery anniversary of Ain Ghazal statues found in jordan.Ain Ghazal statues are almost 9200 year old statues, and are among the eariliest large –scale represenatations of human form.

“Ain Ghazal discovery is one of the major archaeological discoveries uncovered in jordan in the recent decades” noted professior Emeritus Zeidan Kafafi.

Kafafi who is former president of Yamouk university in Irbid told to media that it is big momnet that a tech giant ,world most famous search engine highlights the importance of Ain gazal statues.According to him google celbrations of  Ain Gazel statues gave them the importance and statues becomes under the spotlight ,which means that the discovery of these artefacts is not just reflect rich heritage of Jordan rather they are the universal treasures.

 

Many media houses in the jordan and across the world covered stories of  the artifacts at the neolithic site of Ain Ghazal near marka Shamalia in Amman , kafafi said.

He also mentioned specificlly that interest in these archealogical sites existed since 1980 ,it was the time when many specialised archaelogical and historical magzines wrote about the site.

Statues from the Ain Gazal has been displayed at several local and international museums,in that way the statues becames the ambassdors for jordian cultural heritage.

Moreover many archaeological sites available to tourists in amman are limted to the amman citadel, the roman theatre and the Jordan Museum,kafafi told.

Kafafi also recalled memories of past that in year 1988 , the Godfether of the Ain Gazel ,Gary Rollefson ,and I proposed to upgrade the site for tourist purposes but due to urban devolpment we are losing much of Ain Gazel .

Kafafi also stressed that the environment at museaum where these museum are kept must be regulated to keep sculptures intact,because due to higher temprature there is a risk that glued pieces will deteriorate.

 

 Garry rollesfson said despite the past struggle Ain Gazel has a lot of potential as a tourist destination,but there  must be huge financial committement to make it happens.

Rollesfson also explained that paucity of  interest and administrative lack of communications must be corrected in near future, with dedicated efforts to obtain financial support from  ,both internatioanl and jordanian .he also underscore that without this commitment site will not play an important role in touristic development of amman.
