Bahrain: An extraordinary and miraculous incident took place in the Salmaniya Medical Complex recently, where the medical team of the health care centre succeeded in saving the life of a three-year-old who struck a fishing rod in his eye.

As per the updates, such wonderful news was shared on the official social media account of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Bahrain on Saturday, December 24.

The officials and the Minister of Health, Bahrain, Dr Jaleela, took it to congratulate and acknowledge the extraordinary job done by the skilful medical team of the Salmaniya Medical Complex (Government Hospital in Manama).

Furthermore, the Health Ministry of Bahrain appreciated the successful efforts done by the joint medical staff of the hospital, which included the Department of Medicine, Ophthalmology, and Anaesthesia Department at the Salmaniya Medical Complex.

As per the sources, the three-year-old was gone out practising fishing as a hobby and accidentally injured his right eye with a fishing rod, but fortunately, he was immediately rescued and admitted to the hospital, where he underwent surgery by a team of expert surgeons.

After the surgery, the medical team saved the Bahraini patient’s life, which was in a critical situation at the moment. The Ministry of Health extended its thanks to the hospital doctors who found success in the operation.

The medical faculty of Salmaniya Medical Complex was highly praised and applauded for their quick response and urgency, along with the speed of their actions, where a delay of even a second could have gone wrong. 

The professionalism and skill shown by the talented doctors were also recognized and commended after the incident.

Moreover, as per the information, the operation and medical team were led by the lead Ophthalmologist Dr Hussein Al-Harami along with assistance from Dr Amr of the Anaesthesia Department, 

who acted immediately to perform all the necessary actions and conducted the surgery urgently while removing the tube from the eye with top professionalism.      

In addition, during the surgery, Dr Hassan Abdel-Hadi, Dr Hawra Al-Mahroush from the Ophthalmology Department and Dr Amr Bahr from the anaesthesia Department accompanied the lead doctors and specialized nursing staff and support services from the operations department in the complex.

In the end, the Department of Ophthalmology and Surgery of Salmaniya Medical Complex also call on everyone to take caution and take safety precautions while using sharp tools to reduce eye injuries and avoid complications.
