Egypt: The Ministry of Tourism and Archaeology in Egypt launched a program called ‘Tourism Ambassadors’ in March 2020.
The program was implemented and focused on visitors who work with tourist guides at archaeological sites and museums to enhance and upgrade their skills and capabilities in the tourism industry.
As per the reports and recent numbers, around 100 to 300 workers in the tourism industry have been given training and completed the Tourism Ambassadors program in Shagra Al Saidah.
Furthermore, along with the workers in such areas, the ticket office staff at the Virgin Mary in Matariya, civil security officials and archaeological inspectors has also participated in the training program.
The Ministry of Tourism and Archaeology further added that within the program and framework of “Tourism Ambassadors,” the ministry’s plan gets a chance to be enhanced and uplift the human element in the tourism industry and its sector worker.
Moreover, on his behalf, the Advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Archaeology and the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Saha Bahjat, conveyed that the program starts with the motive of developing a way to start the conversation.
Bahjat added that welcoming a visitor through a well-explained introduction of the employees is considered an important first impression concept and has a positive effect on tourists.
In addition, Bahjat also took time to address that the training course was established under the association and teamwork with Osama Talaat, the head of the Islamic, Coptic and Jewish archaeology sector in the Supreme Council of Archaeology.
Following the cooperation of the two parties, Osama and Bahjat, the course was organized and handled in different sectors to provide appropriate training to the workers, such as training by Rhythm Hospitality Training Agency, which specializes in training and hospitality, accredited by the hospitality institute of the United Kingdom.
The officials also added, “This program is being implemented in all the archaeological sites and museums that have been upgraded to achieve the best visitor experience and be in line with Egypt’s tourist reputation among countries”.
Notably, the training of Tourism Ambassador training program has been carried out for several workers in the Islamic, Coptic and Jewish archaeology sectors in several areas such as Baron Imban Palace, Muhammad Ali’s Palace in Shabra Al-Kheema, Bab Wazir area, Weapon Market, and Sultan Hassan and Refa’i Mosques.
In the end, the “Tourism Ambassadors” program is carried out under the auspices of the Bank of Alexandria and in cooperation with the “Rhythm Hospitality Training Agency”, which specializes in training and hospitality, accredited by the British Hospitality Institute.
