New Delhi, India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the ‘sports spirit’ of the youth of Kashmir on Sunday and stated that Winter Games has the purpose of searching for young players and athletes to represent the nation in International games at global stages, reports ANI (Asia News International).
As per the update, PM Modi addressed Snow Cricket matches during the Winter Games in Kashmir, which is considered the “extension of the Khelo India Movement”. In addition, Winter Games were organized in Syedabad, Kashmir and cricket were made more beautiful by the Kashmiri youth in the snow”, he added.
In his remarks, the competition will also initiate the search for potential and talented young players in Kashmir who can play in National Indian Cricket Team. PM Modi further cited that it is an essential extension to the Khelo India Movement during the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme in its 97th edition of 2023.
During the radio programme, Prime Minister also stated that the youth of the nation has a lot of enthusiasm regarding sports and the young players have the potential to win medals for the country in the coming times and will make us proud.
The State of Jammu and Kashmir has produced exciting talent in the cricketing world so far, among which Umran Malik, 23-year-old, is the fastest bowler among the Indian bowling attack and has become an emerging pace sensation in recent times. He is also called ‘Jammu Express’ and has earned a lot of recognition worldwide for his performance in the Indian Premier League 2022, where he took 22 wickets in 14 matches with a fifer of 5/25.
Moreover, Legendary pacers from world cricket, Dale Steyn and Brett Lee have also praised the game of Umran Malik and his ability to bowl consistently on the mark of 150 kph.
Being recognized by some mighty greats of the sport, Umran’s game has been moving forward towards success, and he is a part of the current Indian team squad, said reports.
Prime Minister added, “Kashmir valley becomes beautiful every year during this time, and people enjoy the beauty of white snow sheet all the time, which made it look like a fairy tale.”
“My dear countrymen, our efforts to strengthen our Republic should go on relentlessly. The Republic becomes strong ‘by public participation’, ‘by everyone’s effort’, ‘by performing one’s duties towards the country’, and I am satisfied that our ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is the emphatic voice of such dutiful fighters,” Modi said.
