St Kitts and NEVIS: PM Terrance Drew joins Cabinet Ministers to launch blood donation initiative

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew participated in the initiative launched by the Ministry of Health to encourage blood donation among the people of the Federation at JNF (Joseph N France) hospital yesterday, February 10, 2023.

Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew took to his official social media account to share the news regarding his participation in the blood donation campaign organized by the Ministry of Health under his leadership and guidance.

During the blood donation event, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Geoffrey Hanley, with politicians Dr Joyelle Clarke and Konsris Maynard, was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Dr Marcus Natta and joined Prime Minister Terrance Drew at the JSF hospital.

On his part, PM Drew confirmed that the Health Ministry of the Two-Island Federation introduced a large-scale blood donation movement across the nation to spread awareness among the residents towards the importance of donating blood which holds several benefits along with following a cause for humanity.

“By giving blood, one can potentially save a life,” noted Prime Minister Drew. He added that the blood-giving campaign held by the Health Ministry focuses on urging the people to come forward and play their part in saving lives and adapting better practices for their own health improvement.

Furthermore, in her remarks, Dr Joyelle Clark also shared her experience donating blood during the ongoing drive. He stated, “Today, I joined the members of Cabinet at JNF General Hospital to donate to the Blood Bank.”

She added, “I gave blood and was happy to do so. I think everyone should do this as long as they can.” In addition, she claimed that “As a Cabinet, we thought it would be in the nation’s best interest to lead the initiative in encouraging the public to donate to the Blood Bank, alongside the Cabinet Secretary, Marcus L Natta.”

In the end, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Drew, emphasized on the role of blood donation and urged his fellow residents to consider joining the campaign at JNF hospital. “Roll up your sleeves to donate blood,” he said.
