Iran: A formal reception for the President of the Republic of Iraq, Dr Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, was held today, Saturday, 29 April 2023, at the Saadabad Palace in Tehran by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Ibrahim Raisi.
The meeting was held as the official reception ceremony where both the leaders met to discuss different ways to enhance bilateral ties and strategic partnerships in various fields.
According to the shared updates, the media office of the Presidency of the Republic of Iraq reached out to its official social media handle to share the piece of information with the residents of both nations. During the meeting, it was stated that both the leaders exchanged words over mutual matters of concern and promoting diplomatic ties between them.
Furthermore, the update read, “The reception saw the performance of Iraqi and Iranian national anthems, then Her Majesty Sahiba paraded the Guards of Honour.”
After that, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and his Iranian counterpart Ibrahim Raisi held a bilateral discussion session. They discussed the relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing and developing joint cooperation in the fields of energy, water, environment, climate and tourism, serving mutual interests.
Moreover, “The importance of coordination and cooperation on issues of mutual interest and what impairs security and stability in the region was also emphasized,” said the reports.
The reports have also stated that during the meeting, a number of important issues were also addressed between the two countries, and the need to unite efforts to alleviate regional and international tensions and jointly work to enhance the chances of peace.
After the meeting, official discussions began between the Iraqi and Iranian delegations, with His Excellency President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid chairing the Iraqi side. In contrast, the Iranian delegation was chaired by President Ibrahim Raisi.
During the discussions, mechanisms for improving the reality of constructive cooperation between the two countries were discussed. The President had arrived in the Islamic Republic of Iran on an official visit joined by the first lady Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed, a number of ministers, advisers and senior officials.
