The Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, Mr Hassan Abdullah, at the Bank headquarters has received a delegation from the African Development Bank Group (DBG) headed by Mr Vincent Nimihl, the Secretary-General of the Group.

On his part, the head of the delegation, Vincent Nimihl, stated that “We thank Mr President for sponsoring and supporting the annual meetings of the Group Bashram El Sheikh and making it to such an exceptional and unprecedented level.” 

In addition, he extended heartfelt thankfulness for the outstanding hosting of the annual meetings of the Group held in Sharm El-Sheikh city from 22 to 26 May 2023.

At the beginning of the meeting, Egyptian Bank Governor Hassan Abdullah affirmed that Egypt was pleased to host this version of the meetings on Sharm El-Sheikh land, which included the governors of 81 member states, both non-African or African countries. 

He said that the Egyptian State has always been keen to strengthen the framework of cooperation with all institutions and sister African states in particular.

Furthermore, Signifying the importance of Egypt’s African depth throughout history, Governor Hassan said that “Egypt is clearly supporting development efforts across Africa, and our African brethren can always count on Egypt at any time.”

On his part, Delegation head Vincent Nimihl, on behalf of the Chairman of the African Development Bank Group and all participants in the meetings, expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President of the Republic of Egypt for his generous patronage and support that enabled this edition of the meetings to exit in an exceptional and unprecedented way.

Moreover, the Secretary General of the Group also thanked Hassan Abdullah for hosting the Central Bank of Egypt meetings and his constant supervision of all details and for facilitating all preparations at the highest level. It was also stated that he has participated in 7 previous versions of the Group’s annual meetings.

It was further emphasized that this is the first time such a level has been witnessed and distinguished by the organization, expressing deep appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the Central Bank of Egypt’s round-the-clock to bring the event to this level and meet the requests of all participants.

He added that the concrete efforts made by Major General Khaled Fouda, Governor of South Sinai, and all executive leaders in the province had a great impact in facilitating the accommodation of all participants in those meetings, leaving in their memory a wonderful impression of the charming city of Sharm El-Sheikh.

The Secretary-General concluded his speech, noting that by hosting this edition of meetings, Egypt has strengthened its leading reputation among the group countries. He presented a model of organization, which all host countries in the future will work to follow.

He noted that the African Development Bank Group is looking forward to meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt in the 2024 Annual Meetings, scheduled to be held from 27-31 May 2024 in Nairobi – Kenya.
