Jeremiah Norbert talks on condition of youth in politics

Saint Lucia: Jeremiah Norbert, the newest member of the cabinet of ministers, appointed by Philip J Pierre, the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, shared his views about the requirement of youth representation in making decisions for the nation in his recent appearance.

Minister Jeremiah Norbert, shared his intentions about providing fair opportunities to young minds and marking their representation as a crucial pillar. Norbert is believed to have addressed the situation with his experience as he played his role as one of the youngest members of the parliament.

While mentioning the challenges usually faced by youngsters in politics, Minister Norbert highlighted that they are normally not taken seriously and stay unheard most of the time. He focused on the issue of many individuals who straight away neglect the vision of the youngsters around them.

Jeremiah Norbert said, “It is sad; you will get individuals who will call talk shows and say he is too young. These are the same people who say they would love to see young people make a difference in society.”

Jeremiah Norbert talked about the importance of the support given to the youth to grow by sharing his own journey and mentioning the role of the Saint Lucia Labour Party in his progress as a politician and a person.

Norbert said that, the support he received he doesn’t think anyone could be able to witness it anywhere else usually. With the progress of time, he constantly kept on learning and progressing under the guidance of senior leaders.

Minister Norbert in his statement also acknowledged the abundance of misbeliefs and mischief in the political circle where youngsters and newcomers became easy targets. He expressed his irritation towards these kinds of things happening to youth rather than providing them an environment where they can learn and grow which would be better for the nation.

Recently, Jeremiah Norbert joined the PM cabinet to look over his responsibilities as Minister of Crime Prevention where he will be focused on tackling the crime situation in the nation and ensuring the safety of the citizens and tourists in Saint Lucia.

Jeremiah Norbert is now also holding the position of Minister for People with Disabilities where he will be making decisions for the betterment of the handicapped and the people suffering from any kind of disabilities. The intention of the new ministry is to bring disabled people to the mainstream in the nation.

In his previous statement while getting appointed to the PM cabinet he said that he would be truthful towards his duties and no one should take him lightly. Now, he shared his optimistic views about betterment in the condition of young participation in politics and how he will also take it matter of primary focus.
