St Kitts PM Drew meets Elizabeth Dowdeswell in Ontario

St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew met with Elizabeth Dowdeswell, the 29th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, during his official visit to Canada for St. Kitts and Nevis Association of Toronto Pre-Independence Celebration Cultural Extravaganza, which was held on Sunday, 10 September.

St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew met with Elizabeth Dowdeswell, the 29th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, during his official visit to Canada for St. Kitts and Nevis Association of Toronto Pre-Independence Celebration Cultural Extravaganza, which was held on Sunday, 10 September.

Prime Minister Drew shared the update of his visit on his official social media account in which he said, “It was a pleasure meeting with Elizabeth Dowdeswell, the 29th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, today, during my official visit to Canada for the St. Kitts and Nevis Association of Toronto Pre-Independence Celebration Cultural Extravaganza which was held yesterday, Sunday 10 September.

Elizabeth Dowdeswell plays the role of representative of His Majesty The King. She carries out vital constitutional and ceremonial duties, fostering healthy citizen and community engagements.

Moreover, the Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Glenroy Blanchette, was also present at the meeting.

Dr. Drew also mentioned that he feels delighted after the grateful opportunity to connect and strengthen ties between our nations!

On the second day of the visit to Canada, Dr. Drew visited the University of Health Network (UHN), a state-of-the-art climate-smart hospital located in Toronto, Canada. This visit underscores the commitment to securing opportunities for sustainable economic growth and innovation for the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

He also praised UHN for its exceptional healthcare facilities and extensive capabilities, boasting Canada’s largest hospital-based research programme.

The PM said, “UHN, renowned for its exceptional healthcare facilities and extensive research capabilities, boasts the largest hospital-based research program in Canada. The institution is at the forefront of groundbreaking research in fields such as cardiology, transplantation, neurosciences, oncology, surgical innovation, infectious diseases, genomic medicine, and rehabilitation medicine.”

Further, PM Drew also showed his delightedness of pre-independence Celebration Cultural Extravaganza. He also applauded the members of the association for their dedication, which is a testament to the strength and unity of our diaspora community. The attendees of the event were:
