Egypt: The Environment Minister of Egypt, Dr Yasmin Fouad, took it to review the statistics and reports on efforts and hard work that the Ministry of Environment has done to improve the water quality in the country.

As per the recent updates, environment minister Yasmin Fouad has stated that the year is about to end, and with the start of a new year, the Ministry of the Environment reviewed a report on the efforts made by the department to improve and enhance the water quality, at various levels, whether to observe any difference in water quality and take necessary measures to address it and efforts to limit industrial wastage on Nile, lakes and sewage treatment.

Furthermore, Dr Yasmin Fouad confirmed that the Ministry had made a great effort to connect as many industrial facilities as possible to the momentary monitoring network to monitor the water quality of the Nile River and lakes belonging to the Ministry.

The step was taken to monitor the industrial outflow of those facilities around the clock and instant credit of any units in compliance with environmental standards and organized laws, where the number of stations reached in the network, there are 25 spot monitoring stations.

In addition, two spot monitoring stations were installed in Manila Lake, five spot monitoring sensors were installed in the Mariut Lake area, and the Geographic Information System was used to create a monitoring network for the water quality of direct industrial facilities on the Nile through a number of (9) stations T for monitoring the water quality in the Nile.

Moreover, the environment minister also pointed out that “The water quality of the Nile River and its subdivision was also monitored through a number of 3 monitoring sites on the Nile River in addition to three points of Al-Sad Al-Ali Lake (Nasser),

and the preparation of the guidance guide for monitoring water quality in cooperation with the ministries concerned”, which has been approved and published through the portal A electronic, as well as implementing national programs for Coastal and lake monitoring to monitor lakes’lakes’ water quality levels.

On her part, Yasmin Fouad also stated that Ensuring the measures taken based on the instructions of Mr President of the Republic to reduce pollution in the Suez Gulf, the Minister of the Environment pointed out the coordination between the Ministry of Environment and Oil to oblige all facilities that drain on the Suez Gulf to implement environmental correction plans.
