Egypt: The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Hossam Abdul Ghaffar, issued a statement addressing 4.3 million children who were tested as part of the President’s Initiative for early detection, treatment of impairment and hearing loss.
As per the updates, the Ministry of Health and Population announced that it would provide hearing screening services to 4 million and 317,000 children as part of the President’s Initiative Initiative for the early detection and medication of hearing loss in newborn children since its launch in September 2019.
On his part, Dr Hossam Abdul Ghaffar, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, indicated that the number of hospitals and hearing referral centres have been increased to 34 instead of 30 centres in all governorates of the Republic and provided them with the latest medical equipment and supplies, to provide hearing initiative services.
Abdul Ghaffar turned 466,250 children from the total of the children tested for re-testing through a confirmatory test a week after the first test. In the same unit in which they were tested, 26,000 765 children were also transferred.
In addition, after the second test, to hospitals and referral centres to assess the status With higher precision, starting a treatment or installing an earphone, or turning the child for spinal implant surgery for those who claim his condition.
He further added that the InitiativeInitiative comes within the framework of the expansion of comprehensive health coverage and children receiving quality health care. Additionally, following the latest methods of treatment, which reflects the provision of a safe, healthy life for newborn babies reaching the target of the initiatives of President Abdul Fattah El-Sisi, under the slogan of “100 million health” and in line with a vision ” EGYPT 2030.”
Spokesperson Abdul Ghaffar reported to increase in the number of auditory screening centres for children from the day of birth to 28 days old, to 3500 health units in all governorates of the Republic, clarifying that the failure of the child for the second test does not mean that he has a hearing impairment, but it is an indication that the child needs advanced tests in referral centres of the InitiativeInitiative.
Furthermore, Dr Ahmed Mustafa, Executive Director of the President’s Initiative for the early detection and treatment of impairment and hearing loss in newborn children, confirmed that the early detection of hearing impairment prevents a child with hearing impairment and facilitates treatment opportunities, as well as avoiding speech problems that can cause psychological crises in the child.
It is continued that nursing teams have been trained to work on the sound-emission device of health units, as well as training the data entrants of health units in all governorates of the Republic to register the data of newborns on the Initiative’sInitiative’s website to create a complete file of the child including his health condition, as well as insert an auditory examination unit in Birth Certificates.
In the end, on his part, Dr Mohi Al-Sayed, the general coordinator of the principles, stated that the Ministry is receiving inquiries from citizens regarding President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi’s InitiativeInitiative, for the early detection and treatment of impairment and hearing loss in newborn children, on the hotline 15335 of the «100 Million Health» initiatives.
