Egypt: The Ministry of the Environment Sponsored the launch of the first edition of the initiative “Sustainable Elegance” by Al-Kasa Bank of Egypt under the presence of Environment Minister Dr Yasmin Fouad.
According to the reports, Minister Yasmin Fouad confirms supporting and encouraging civil society and private sector institutions to invest in recycling industries to conserve our natural resources for ourselves and future generations.
In her remarks, she added, “After Cup 2020, the number of youth innovations and work opportunities for recycling increased to face climate change.” Dr Yasmin Fouad witnessed the launch of the first version of the “FROM WASTE TO GOOD TASTE” initiative, launched in mid-January 2023 with the participation of the Egyptian Bank of Al-Kasa and Cocoon Cultural Centre, said reports.
In addition, she emphasized aiming to urge citizens to change unconscious consumer behaviour to one of the daily behaviours carried out by community members through Urging to limit fast fashion, change unconscious consumer habits of textiles, and also contribute to mitigating the effects of climate change, in the presence of Engineer Manal Saleh, CEO of Al-Kasa Bank of Egypt, and many young people with paper and textile recycling projects.
On her part, Dr Yasmin Fouad, the Minister of the Environment, expressed her happiness and welcomed participants in the launch of this initiative, noting that the idea began with the COP27 climate conference.
The main focus was to present Egypt differently by highlighting the green zone by sharing these ideas since it included civil society and youth emerging projects affirming that the dream was to have the green area and then be the voice of humanity.
Minister of Environment also said that we worked to integrate art and sustainable fashion at the climate conference, honoured by the participation of the Bank of Kasa of Egypt in the COP27 climate conference and to introduce their work which provides an eco-friendly product and achieves environmental sustainability.
In her notes, the Minister of the Environment, Fouad, also emphasized that the change in society’s culture will not be done only by the state and the government, noting that the difference comes from each individual’s belief in innovative ideas and making environmentally friendly projects.
She cited that the initiative and others, besides its goal of preserving the environment and reducing the environmental impact resulting from dealing with consumer products, can by providing green job opportunities from these projects, indicating providing many additional sources of livelihood for Egyptian families through these projects, as it is a step in the right path.
Dr Yasmin Fouad confirmed that the Ministry is in the process of creating a platform for recycling products that encompasses all youth projects participating in the initiative and work to support and encourage civil society institutions and the private sector to invest in this field to preserve the environment, achieve sustainable development and maintain our natural resources for ourselves and future generations.
