Qatar’s humanitarian society to provide $1mn for Gaza hospitals

In a recent statement, the QRCS(Qatar Red Crescent Society) confirmed to provide financial aid to Gaza. The financial assistance is meant to be utilised for medical equipment, medicines, medical supplies, and ambulance like vehicles. The provisions of these amenities will ensure timely medical aid to victims of war.

QRCS indicated that it has already begun an emergency response project for 200,000 USD. This emergency project will help the Palestinian health authorities to provide emergency medical services to the injured.

Society, in its statement, explained that its representatives in Gaza, Al Quda, and the West Bank are closely monitoring the ground situation in the conflict zone. As per ground reports Gaza Strip is facing the worst kind of Humanitarian crisis due to continuous bombardment by the Israeli Armed Forces.

More details also revealed that since day one of the War, QRCS had activated its disaster information management system(DIMC). DIMC aimed to gather the timely, correct, and trustworthy ground-level information, identifying the destruction, etc.

DIMC is also working  in alliance with the PRCS(Palestine Red Cross Society) and other international organisations.

QRCS expressed deep condolences to PRCS on the death of four paramedics who lost their lives in the line of duty. Moreover, QRCS condemned the attacks on the health workers working under the different humanitarian agencies.

Being a member of the International Red Cross Society and Red Crescent Movement, QRCS called the warring side to follow Article 3 of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 to protect human rights in conflict Zone as well.

The statement also highlighted the provisions of the International Humanitarian Law,under the guidelines of  IHL(International Humanitarian Law), attacks on hospitals, medical facilities, and healthcare providers are a serious crime.

ORCS also asked the donors of Qatar to come forward for the support of the Palestinian people. People can donate through online mode by visiting their website.

Under the theme of help for Palestine, various projects are going on to provide medical assistance, food parcels, winter clothes, livelihoods for the poor, aggrieved families, etc.
