Iraq’s PM meets Delegation from Sinjar District

Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed S. Al-Sudani Receives a Delegation from Sinjar District on Monday, 30 October, 2023. During the meeting, both sides held in-depth discussions on the issues related to various aspects of the Sinjar district. Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s support for the full-fledged development of the Sinjar.

During the meeting, the delegation from Sinjar briefed the Prime minister on the living and economic conditions in Sinjar district. Moreover,  delagtion also highlighted the pressing need for reconstruction and the inadequate services Sinjar district currently faces. Delagtion demanded that the government should focus its policies for upscaling the development projects in the Sinjar district on a priority basis.

It is worth mentioning that the ongoing displacement of residents is a direct consequence of the lack of governance skills of local governments in addressing public issues and fulfilling people’s needs. Additionally, there was a request from the delegation for the release of allocated financial compensation so that development projects could be completed within the stipulated time frame. Because in the absence of the proper financial support, many projects remain incomplete for a long time.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani, on his part, emphasized that the government has attached great importance to the Sinjar district due to the severe hardships the people of the district have suffered in the past as a result of terrorism.

He also stated that the government’s responsibility to support and bring justice to the community underlined the government’s commitment to making bold decisions. These decisions align with the people of Sinjar’s significant sacrifices and their determination to stay in their homeland.

Prime Minister further added that the crucial phase Iraq and the region are currently passing through, emphasizing the need for increased effort and collaboration to secure and stabilize the entire country and the Middle East region.

Governemrt also have the goal  to facilitate the return of all displaced individuals to their original residential places, including the district of Sinjar.
