Jordan: The engineering team from Hashemite University has secured its place as the first Arab team among the top 10 teams participating in the finals of the World Self-Driving Cars Competition. The university team participated and qualified for the competition, which was held on the sidelines of the World Robotics and Automation Conference in London – United Kingdom.
As per the shared updates, the officials from Hashemite University have taken to its official social media handle to extend congratulatory messages and greetings to the university’s team. It was stated that the team has excelled in the competition under the supervision of the creative Dr Mohamed Hijna, Head of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering and Supervisor of SMART Lab.
It was further added that under the leadership and guidance of the Mechatronics Engineering head Mohamed Hijna, the university’s innovative team showcased some exceptional, creative ideas and projects during the competition. After this, it becomes the first Arab team to reach the competition’s finale.
Moreover, the update shared by the Hashemite University officials noted that “Congratulations to the Hashemite University’s engineering team for participating and qualifying specifically for the final competition and became the first Arab team among the top 10 teams from all international teams in the World Self-Driving Small Cars Competition.”

“Under the supervision of the creative Dr Mohamed Hijna, Head of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering and Supervisor of SMART Lab,” said the reports. “We are proud of our student Al-Najb and to further successes locally and internationally,” authorities added.
The reports mentioned that to continue supporting the University administration for student innovations, including the creation and opening of laboratories that polish their skills, including the SMART lab, which was opened by the kindness of the University’s President months ago in the Faculty of Engineering to be a preparatory platform for this student group.
