Egypt: The Minister of Environment and Ministerial Coordinator and representative of the COP27 (Conference of the Parties) for climate change, Dr Yasmin Fouad, attended a plenary meeting of the Senate today, December 11th
During the meeting, the environmental minister of Egypt issued a statement stating that COP27 had witnessed a collective national performance and result, making it worth organizing the conference in a record period.
The modern-day organizational facilities and logistics assistance provided the negotiators with a climate to communicate and reach unexpected results in all manners. She added.
Furthermore, minister Dr Yasmin Fouad gave a speech during the event and said that the pillars of the efforts from the Egyptian presidency involved in the conference did not come from the meeting,
but its roots are connected straight to the great leadership of the president of the country, Abdul Fattah El-Sisi, and to his action towards the climate years ago.
In her speech, she addressed the efforts that the ministry of environment has been receiving from the different sectors of Egyptian society.
She showed immense gratitude and thanked all sectors, and passed her respect for the honourable national work that became the reason behind the success.
As per the reports, Dr Yasmin Fouad stated that “Through the hard efforts of the Egyptian presidency, the conference has managed to achieve its long-awaited goal of the creation of the Damage and Loss Fund, to compensate poor countries, especially African countries, for losses caused by environmental disasters and shocks”.
Moreover, during her speech, she also said that the nation’s presidency would continue to push hard and put in more effort until the United Arab Emirates hands over control of the COP28 in November next year.
”The success at the conference held in Egypt was not the end but the beginning of a new journey”. Ministry of Environment stated.
