Middle East, Jordan: The Prime Minister of Jordan, Dr Bashar Al-Khasaouna, recently chaired a session of the Cabinet of Ministers and agreed on the grounds of the draft of an amended system for the free housing system for those affected by human trafficking crimes in 2023, and referred it to the Legislative Assembly and Opinion Council to complete its issuance procedures as per the law.
The updates stated that the draft amended system comes to align the free lodging system for them and victims of human trafficking offences No. (30) of 2012, with the rules of the Trafficking Act No. 9 of 2009.
In addition, on the other hand, the Cabinet has approved the necessary procedures to walk in the project of unification and integration of regulators at border ports. Furthermore, under the decision, the Jordanian Customs Department has been authorized to exercise the border control authorities’ powers defined by the previous council’s conclusion.
The instructed exercises included tasks of inspection, detection and retracting of samples according to the legislation window until these legislations are amended. Moreover, the decision also included assigning a number of targeted monitoring authorities to work for the Jordanian Customs Service as of April 30, 2023.
“The obligation of monitoring authorities to provide all the numbers required by the Customs Department and under the conditions specified by it, the monitoring authorities should find the necessary alternatives to provide this number within two weeks from the date of issuance the resolution is,” said the updates.
According to the resolution, the executive plan for the unification of surveillance references at border ports has been approved, and the relevant monitoring authorities are requested to complete the completion of the removal of the crossing within two weeks from the date of issuance of the decision, said the sources.
Additionally, “The relevant monitoring authorities were also instructed to unify the classification of risk within two weeks of the issuance of this decision, depending on (red leak) of high risk and the mechanism to deal with it by actual inspection, eye withdrawal or laboratory examination, and (yellow leak) of low risk and the mechanism of dealing with it by only checking documents and relying on subsequent verification and Markets, and (green drain) of minimal or no risk and the coping mechanism by the direct release of commodities and relying on subsequent scrutiny and market scanning,” confirms Prime Minister’s office.
According to the reports, the decision includes the invitation to the monitoring authorities to complete the implementation of electronic pre-licensing and approvals and to start the performance of the second phase of the expansion of targeted services; to cover all the benefits of these authorities, as well as the inclusion of all monitoring authorities concerned with border control.
Notably, It also included the beginning of establishing the National Targeting Center under the auspices of the Jordanian Customs Service. The core of this centre will be the National Technical Committee for Risk Management, formed by the Supreme Guidance Committee of the One Window.
