Dr Terrance Drew, current prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis, attended an event at the country’s Embassy in the United States of America. The event was organised to celebrate the Independence Day of St Kitts and Nevis, also called the 40 Black-Tie Gala event.
Dr Drew also addressed the event. Actual date of independence is 19th September, but the event at the Embassy was held recently.
This year, St Kitts and Nevis celebrated its 40th independence day. The country gained independence in 1983 from the British colonists. In the following year of independence, in 1984, elections were held in the country.
Dr drew, in his speech, thanked the people of the USA and the staff of the Embassy for their warm hospitality. He said he will remain indebted towards the entire team of the event.
He said with consistent efforts the country can stand uniquely in the world. He emphasises the relationship between the St. Kittam and Nevis and USA are solid and time-tested since the independence of St. Kitts and Nevis.
According to Prime Minister Independence for any country is precious gift . This is duty of all citizens to strive for protection of independence.
Dr Drew said his labour party-led government resolved to lead the s kittam and Nevis towards fast growth in the economic field.
He stressed on the impact of climate change on the country . According to him, even a small hurricane or tsunami-like calamity can push the country into great trouble.
He emphasised the importance of sustainable development. Dr Drew said his govt is making great efforts to strike a balance between development and environmental protection. In other words, he highlighted the country’s role on the front of sustainable development.
The PM also underscored that the country’s education sector needs a boost. A strong education sector will be a great gift to future generations of independence.
He called all the country’s people to come forward for the betterment of the country. As per him, only collective efforts can protect the common interest of the country.
While attending the event, other dignitaries also congratulated the gathering on the 40th independence day of St. Kitts and Nevis.
The event witnessed the excellent performance of musical groups.
