Dominica: The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has urged road users and motorists to take precautionary measures when passing through the E O Leblanc Highway, certainly from the area called Morne Scope located at the Southern entrance of Mahaut.

As per the shared advisory, the residents and citizens of the nearby areas are advised to exercise caution as the highway is currently under emergency restoration works to return the road to full functionality.

It has been reported that emergency works are going on to restore the entire area devastated and affected by the extreme weather conditions in Dominica.

In addition, the reports claimed that the Morne Scope area was prone and vulnerable to weather calamities and heavy rainfalls due to its location in a terrain area, which led to road destruction. Following this, the emergency restoration teams have been repairing the damage.

Furthermore, the government of Dominica has updated that the highway area was already affected due to the bad weather conditions and heavy rainfall, increasing the damage. The existing retaining wall also gets compromised, and it became necessary to begin the emergency works, said the government of Dominica.

Moreover, the authorities have mentioned that the damaged area of E O Leblanc Highway, particularly the passing of Morne Scope, is a significant roadway. The highway is a high-traffic zone and needs to be repaired as soon as possible as it would return to its original form so people can use it again.

The road damage caused due to heavy rainfall also resulted in the narrowing down of the road, which makes it more difficult for motorists to pass through.

Narrowing down further increased the danger of accidents and miss happenings, which has also made it important to restore it on time. To address the situation, a multi-tare retaining wall is being constructed under the supervision of a contractor.
