Kashmir: In Achan Village of Pulwama district, a Kashmir Pandit named Sanjay Sharma, 42 years old, was killed by the militants in a brutal attack, following which their Muslim neighbours came forward to help his family members in performing the last rites on Monday, said reports.
According to the reports, the killed Kashmiri pandit was later identified as Sanjay Sharma, and their Muslim neighbours have come forward and expressed their deepest condolences and empathy to the family members of the dead and helped perform the last rites and rituals, said locals.
Furthermore, the reports confirmed that Late Sanjay Sharma was working in the Achan locality as a security guard in a bank and was attacked brutely and killed outside his residence on Sunday. In addition, reports confirmed that there is such a locality, Sharma’s family was the only family which belonged to the Kashmiri Pandit background living in the village.
Additionally, along with his family, Sharma’s Muslim neighbours and friends took all the responsibility on themselves in terms of performing and taking care of his last rites and rituals. His dead body was also shouldered by his friends from the Muslim community, who also arranged wood for his cremation process.
One of his close friends, Mudasir Ahmed and a local resident took it to convey that, “Sanjay was one of us, and we could never have thought of him as a KP. We tried to fulfil all the necessities and rites needed for his cremation.”
He further extended his remarks and stated that they had lived alongside with love and respect towards each other and had done everything together. Moreover, he cited, “We share a strong bond which dates back to hundreds of years when I came to know such disheartening news, all of us was stunned in misery and rushed back to console the family members of him.”
The relatives of Sanjay also mentioned that the Muslim community of their locality always come up to help them in every difficult time of need, and they don’t interfere in religious affairs, as per the reports.
“at the time of the last rites of Sanjay, Muslims sat at a distance when the rituals had to be done by a Pandit, but all the arrangements and preparations were done by them,” said his relatives.
