Egypt: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in association with the Institute for Research of Ophthalmology, is all set to organize a scientific seminar under the theme of “Innovation in the correction of intra-eye light refraction errors.” The seminar will be held from tomorrow (Thursday), 8th to 9th June 2023, which the Institute for Research of Ophthalmology faculty members and students will attend. 

According to the recent information, the updates stated that “under the supervision and leadership of Ayman Ashour, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Institute for Research of Ophthalmology, holds a scientific seminar entitled “The New in Correction of Light Fraction Errors in the Eye”, which will be held during the 8th – 9th of June.”

Furthermore, on his part, Mustafa Salah, the head of the institute, has pointed out that the seminar comes in the framework of transferring knowledge and modern technology to train young doctors and follow-up on the news in the field of optical correction and the disposal of glasses.

The reports also mentioned that the seminar would be attended by international experts, including Mazen Squirrel, who was invited to deliver several lectures covering the new tests required to carry out vision correction by laser or lens implant. It has been stated that the early diagnosis of “cone” disease and modern ways of its treatment were covered in the earlier seminars. 

Moreover, the sources conveyed that the international expert Mazen Squirrel has also delivered a lecture on choosing modern lenses implanted after Contact lens wrap removal (white water).

On the sidelines of the seminar, the institute is holding a scientific session to discuss different disease conditions and the ways of diagnosing and treating them, with the participation of professors from Cairo and Alexandria universities, as well as a workshop to train doctors on how to implant internal contact lenses to correct vision in cases of severe short-sightedness and long-sightedness.
