Egypt: The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Ayman Ashour, has recently extended his warm greeting and congratulations to the assistant professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, Dr Hisham Abdel Salam Omran, for winning the UNESCO “International Winning” competition prize. 

As per the reports, the award-presenting ceremony was conducted in the presence of Dr Omar Al-Husseini, the dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, in the private education building of the fifth settlement.

The minister expressed his happiness regarding the achievement of the awardee. He stated that Hisham Omran is a well-deserved success and honour at the international level; the Ministry has supported and encouraged this outstanding model of young researchers by providing all the required scientific capabilities.

The minister called on discovering and supporting young innovators from Egyptian universities to implement new and advanced projects that have an impact on the local and international markets. 

He referred to the Innovators and Representatives Care Fund, which offers many initiatives and projects; to help innovators to find the most powerful ideas which can be adopted and transformed into startups.

It was added that IRCF works with the aim of graduating pioneers, Businesses, and innovators to contribute to building the national economy and growth of local and international markets.

For his part, Hisham Omran noted, “I am Hisham Omran on his appreciation and thanks to the minister, affirming his continuation of conducting his scientific and technological research; to transfer his expertise to Egyptian universities”.

The awardee Hisham Omran also said that the International Jury had included several prominent scientists, including a Nobel Prize-winning scientist, signalling that his nomination file for the prize includes two axes. 

He described the first axis in the field of design automation, which is that integrated electronic circuits (silicon chips) be designed automatically by innovative software in Less time and with higher quality of design than traditional ways. 

Furthermore, he further said that the second axis included the development of multiple regulations in the field of electronics, the use of social media and distance learning to spread in Egypt and the Arab world. 

It was emphasized that the design of training programs was made specialized to bridge the gap between academic and industry studies and the qualification of youth for the job market in the field of circuit design Integrity.

Hisham Omran is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The reports also added that he has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Ain Shams University and a PhD from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (CAST). 

The awardee has received several awards, including the State Encouragement in Engineering Award 2020, Ain University Award, The 2022 Tech Encouragement Sun, and the Award for Innovators Design Automation Conference 2022 in California, the largest international conference in electronics design.

It should be noted that UNESCO’s ‘International Winner’ is a unique award held for the first time to honour and encourage young scientists in science, technology, engineering, and math. 

Five global winners have been selected from the five UNESCO regions (Africa, Arab States, Europe and North America, South America, and Asia) as honoured Winners of the UNESCO International Ceremony in Paris.
