Jordan: Vice President of Hashemite University, Dr Wasfi Al Rawdah, has participated in the celebrations of ‘Deaf Child Week’ and sponsored the event organized by Queen Rania College for Childhood in cooperation with the Center for Studies, Consultation and Community Service.
The event was organized in the presence of the Dean of the College, Dr Nagati Beni Younis, and a number of partners supporting the success of the celebration, and a number from the academic, administrative bodies and students of the college.
On his part, Vice President Dr Rawabda appreciated the special efforts of the staff of the childhood college for supporting people with disabilities. He also confirmed the desire of the management of Hashemite University to embody the visions of King Abdullah II in activating and accepting others and taking care of people with disabilities.
He emphasized that the vision can be achieved by providing people with disabilities with educational and practical opportunities and providing all facilities and services to them as an important part of our society. They have distinctive creative abilities, and they are an effective and influential element in all domains.
The sources have claimed that “It is explained that the University has sign language translators who follow up deaf students at the University through the Student Affairs Department and assist them with translating their academic periods and various activities into sign language. Appreciating the special efforts of Queen Rania College of Childhood for training the students in the practical aspect within the field training intervals.”
Furthermore, Dr Beni Younes said, “The achievements of Queen Rania College for Childhood are clear in the national, Arabic and international field, and it is the first and only college specialized in childhood in Jordan, the Middle East and the second in the Arab countries level.”
He added that the college has networked with all national institutions and different sectors that are related to family, children and people with disabilities, which serves its vision to polarize and integrate children with disabilities into the Hashemite University kindergarten.
Assistant dean of the college, Dr Enas Alemat, said during her speech: “The Hashimi University, represented by Queen Rania Children’s College, has provided many facilities and services that help them to practice their university life with ease. The University was the only one to introduce sign language barriers, disability barriers and a healthy community to all students of the University. “
In his remarks, Field Training Supervisor Dr Muhammad Beirat said: “Field training as a leading concept means the application of knowledge and interaction with the skill so if the harmonization between knowledge and skill achievement was leadership, performance and giving.”
“it is affirming that field training and community partnership are important factors in improving the quality of education and care provided to students with disabilities and developing competencies and skills workers, and fostering integration among community members,” he added.
As per the reports, the ceremony, conducted by the University Kindergarten Director, Jawahar Al-Anzi, includes a number of presentations on the achievements of Queen Rania College for Children in the fields of childhood and special education.
It was also noted that the kindergarten and the University’s model nursery presented words and narrated personal experiences of a student with hearing disabilities, and musical pieces from the Nazak Hariri Center, as well as presenting Various paragraphs from Al Amal School for the Deaf and participation of sign language translators.
At the end of the ceremony, VP Dr Rawabda honoured the support and sponsors and the Special Education Center that provides field training to college students.
