India: The women’s World Boxing Championship has witnessed a great show by talented Indian boxers. At present, Nikhat Zareen has registered her name among the country’s most popular and best boxers. She has also won a gold medal for the nation. She has made the country proud by winning gold for the second time in the weight category of 48-50 kg.

Nikhat Zareen has bagged her third gold medal in the World Boxing Championship for Women. In her match with Nguyen Thi Tam of Vietnam, she defeated her in the finals. She has performed as per her anticipated abilities and was expected to win the gold for the country.

During her final match, Nikhat Zareen didn’t give even the smallest chance to her competitor from the beginning. She performed brilliantly while taking the unbeatable lead of 5-0 in the first round. Following this, she continued her lead in the second round as well and landed powerful punches with full force in the third round on the Vietnamese boxer.

After her lethal attack, the referee had to stop the match to check on the Vietnamese boxer about her condition and declared Nikhat the winner. In the end, she won the game with a lead of 5-0 and won the finals of the boxing championship for the second consecutive time.

Nikhat’s mother was also present during her final game in the world championship and made the final special for Nikhat. In her remarks, Nikhat added that her mother came to witness her match for the first time in all these years. She cited that her mother used to get scared of the thought of her stepping into the ring, but now she came to support her after the gold in the last world championship.

Zareen’s mother gets a little upset at the time when she gets hit by the challenger, but now she has understood the game and its rules. Nikhat wanted to win this gold for her mother and put it around her mother’s neck, and her dream came true.

Nikhat’s journey to fame

Pursuing a career in boxing took work for Nikhat. She was born in Nizamabad on June 14, 1996, in Telangana. The name of her father is Mohammad Jameel Ahmed, and her mother is Parveen Sultana. She has two elder sisters with a younger one in her family. Her father works as a salesman, who is a father of four, and her mother is a housemaker.

Nikhat got involved in boxing at the very young age of 13 years, but the journey she had to go through was very tough. Her passion towards boxing was not accepted, and she was forced to wear a hijab by society. Another objection was raised to wearing shorts as well. Throughout her journey, Nikhat’s family has been her only support, and she battled through tough times and continued her practice.

Nikhat’s father himself was an athlete who played football and was a cricketer in his life. He has been a supporting pillar in her life and encouraged his daughter to keep chasing her dreams in sports. Moreover, she also used to train with boys and was opposed by society, yet she ignored all the norms and continued her journey.

She studied in her early days at Nirmala Hrdiay Girls High School in Nizamabad and completed her graduation from AV College later on from Hyderabad. Meanwhile, she continued training for boxing and started learning from her uncle, Shamshamuddin, a professional boxing coach.

Boxing career started in college.

World Champion Nikhat started her career at AV College during her graduation days. She got the success in the year 2010, where she performed exceptionally well in the National Sub Junior Meet at the age of just 15. In the next year, she won gold at the Women’s Junior Youth World Boxing Championship in flyweight held in Turkey.

She cemented her position in the sport by winning the gold at the event of International Boxing Federation Women’s Youth and Junior World Championships. She also secured a silver medal in the Open Boxing Tournament organized in Bangkok and bagged another gold in the National Cup International Boxing Tournament in 2014.
