Jordan: Under the auspices of Princess Aisha bint Al-Hussein, Chairman of the National Centre for Women’s Health Board of Directors, the National Centre for Women’s Healthcare launched the second phase of the Women-Friendly Health Centres program. It was kicked off with the support of the American Agency for International Development USAID and in partnership with various specialized health sectors. 

In addition, the program was also held in the presence of the Minister of Health, Dr Faras Al-Hawari, Director General of Royal Medical Services Deacon Dr Youssef Zarigat, and Deputy Director of the American Agency for International Development in Jordan, Emily Kronic.

The reports stated that the program, launched in Amman, aims to provide high-quality healthcare services to women of all ages in Jordan and in all sectors through the joint cooperation between the National Centre and supporters from various relevant health sectors in the Kingdom based on the achievements of the first phase.

“Phase Two, in collaboration with the American Agency-funded Health Services Quality Enhancement Project, involves preparing 20 health centres over the next two years across the nation,” said reports. 

In this regard, it is being formally recognized by the Board of Health Institutions as Women-Friendly Centre, adopting international best practices and clinical standards, which allows an approach Patient-focused, enhancing women’s experience when accessing health services.

The program also included various health services such as pre-pregnancy, family planning, prenatal, postnatal, nutrition, and breastfeeding. Health Minister, in his speech, emphasized that the Ministry of Health and its partners are seeking to achieve Abdullah II’s vision of reaching healthcare to the best international standards, improving workflow procedures that positively reflected on the experience of service recipients in healthcare services providers.

He added that the ministry is currently working with the National Center for Care and support from the American Agency for International Development through a health services quality enhancement project to expand the program as a successful national program aimed at enhancing the quality of health services provided to women at all stages of their lives.

Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Women’s Health also paid tribute, and Honoured Dean Dr Youssef Zarigat praised the cooperation between the Centre. He said the Ministry of Health, Proprietary Medical Services and the American International Development Agency provide the best health service for women in Jordan. 

It was noted that the expansion of the implementation of the Women-Friendly Health Centres program comes within A framework of government institutions to ensure the quality and sustainability of health services provided, emphasizing that this program is a landmark for providing and delivering specialized and inclusive healthcare for all age groups for women in Jordan.

“The Center is helping Jordanian women enjoy welfare through their dynamic health system to ensure access to basic health services,” said the Deputy Director of the USAID in Jordan. 

The Director of the National Centre for Women’s Health, leading Rahma Jibril, presented the stages of implementation of the program over the next two years and the expected results, as the ceremony included a dialogue session on the challenges and promises for the implementation of the second phase of the Women-Friendly Health Centres Program.

Several government officials, public and private sector partners, and representatives from the USDA attended the launch ceremony.
