Egypt: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has received a high-level delegation from the United States House of Representatives, chaired by Mr Kevin McCarthy, during his ongoing visit to Egypt.
The meeting witnessed confirmation of the depth of the extended strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States and their close and divided ties and relations of cooperation,
During the meeting, members of a number of chairmen and committees from both Republican and Democratic parties, including committees on foreign affairs, military forces, cybersecurity, infrastructure, natural resources and credits, were also present.
According to the reports, Advisor Hanafi Jabali, Speaker of the Parliament, and Mr Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the meeting from the Egyptian side.
On his part, Advisor Ahmed Fahmy, Spokesperson of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, said the President emphasized the importance of Egypt communicating with the leaders of the American Congress in the framework of coordination and consultation between the two friendly countries At various levels.
He also outlined that the cooperation is based on, especially in the light of the turbulent regional reality in the region and the rising challenges that it poses, as well as the current international situation, which has led to energy, food and finance crises, many countries of the world, have been negatively affected.
In this context, the President of the United States House of Representatives reaffirmed the appreciation of his great country of Egypt and its pivotal role in consolidating security, stability and peace in the Middle East and the United States’ interest to continue to strengthen and promote bilateral relations between the two countries on all levels and in various fields.
The spokesperson, Fahmy, revealed that the meeting also witnessed discussion on ways to restore and consolidate peace and security at the international level, dealing with relevant developments, as well as updates on the regional arena and the crises the region is experiencing, especially in relation to recent developments in Sudan.
In this regard, the President of Egypt, El Sisi, emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to reach political solutions to the existing crises by preserving the unity of countries, preserving the destinies of their peoples, and preventing the slide towards chaos and destruction.
Additionally, it was emphasized that Egypt had done its best to push the course of peaceful political dialogue in Brother Sudan, stopping the firing and protecting civilians from the humanitarian repercussions of the conflict.
As the meeting touched upon the Palestinian issue, the President reaffirmed Egypt’s firm position in this regard to reaching a just and comprehensive solution that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of its independent state in accordance with relevant international references.
President concluded that the issue of the Palestinian State could be resolved by opening new horizons for peaceful coexistence, development and prosperity for all the peoples of the region.
Kevin McCarthy expressed appreciation of the administration of America for Egypt’s positive efforts in this regard, pointing to Egypt’s active role in maintaining calm between the Israeli and Palestinian sides and pushing towards the activation of the peace process.
