NMEC organizes exhibitions to promote cultural heritage in Egyptian Governorates

Egypt: National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) has emphasized the significance of the heritage of the number of governorates and territories in Egypt as part of the cultural activity and an event organized by the museum for Eastern Heritage.

Egypt: National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) has emphasized the significance of the heritage of the number of governorates and territories in Egypt as part of the cultural activity and an event organized by the museum for Eastern Heritage. 

According to the reports, the official from the NMEC museum has stated that “the museum organized an event of the Eastern Heritage, in cooperation with the Regional Authority for Revitalizing Tourism in the Eastern and an elite of the governorate artists.”

The authorities extended the remarks and stated, “The event was held within the foundation of the strategy adopted by the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization as part of its cultural activity to highlight and promote the material and lama di cultural heritage of the various Egyptian governorates.”

The reports confirmed that “The event was attended by Dr Mesra Abdullah, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Museum of Archeological Affairs, Engineer Lubna Abdel Aziz, Deputy Governor of the East Governor, and Dr Rasha Hassan Raafat, Director of the Regional Board for Tourism Activation in the East, and a delegation from the governorate.”

Moreover, Dr Maisra Abdullah explained that this event is the fifth among the heritage events of the governorates and that the museum aims to organize and engage different community groups to introduce them to the historical civilization of Egypt. 

He added that the event highlights the heritage of different Egyptian governorates rich in heritage and cultural vocabulary and spreads cultural, tourist and archaeological awareness among all categories of society.

Additionally, Nancy Ammar, a heritage and urban communication specialist, said, “The event included a series of art workshops on the bird craft and how to make it by hand, a workshop on the province’s heritage, a pottery workshop, as well as a peasant bread-making workshop by a village lady from the Eastern village with bread.”

She added that exhibitions of the province’s folk art and the equestrian heritage section were presented in the outer square of the museum, which was welcomed by visitors and foreign tourists to view and interact with them.

Manar Hassan, a heritage and civil communications specialist, indicated that a number of temporary exhibitions, including a photographic exhibition and a fine art exhibition on the most important tourist and natural sights of the Sharqiya Governorate. 

The exhibitions were attended by more than 300 visual artists and a distinguished collection of the most important icons that represent Coptic art in the eastern archrival Coptic Orthodox in Zagazig and from Mina wheat, said reports.

Notably, the event also included an exhibition of the most important crafts and traditional arts, models of conventional rural and Bedouin costumes that Sharqiya Governorate is famous for, and an exhibition of models of Sharqiya’s heritage. The event was concluded with the museum handing out certificates of appreciation to all participants.
