Egypt: The Minister of Youth and Sports – Ashraf Sobhy, on Thursday, recently participated in a meeting with Mr Rodney Swigler – the Director of the Regional Office of the International Agency for Anti-Steroids “Wada” in Africa. 

The meeting was held to discuss various issues related to the field and consumption of Steroids. Minister Ashraf Sobhy attended the meeting on the sidelines of his current visit to South Africa.

According to recent updates, the authorities of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Egypt, have taken to its official social media handle to share information regarding the visit of Sports Minister Sobhy to Africa. 

The shared update stated that “Dr Ashraf Sobhy, the Minister of Youth and Sports, met on Thursday Mr Rodney Swigler, Regional Office Director, the representative of the International Anti-Stormic Control Agency “Wada” in Africa.”

Furthermore, it was emphasized that the meeting was held to shed light on various problems and challenges imposed by the steroids. It was discussed that steroid selling and consumption should be under control. 

During the meeting, Major General Ahmed Nasser, President of the African Union “Oxa”, on the margins of his visit to the state of South Africa, were also present.

The Minister of Youth and Sports stressed the eagerness of the Egyptian State, represented in the Ministry of Youth and Sport, to support the efforts of the International Anti-Steroids Agency to promote and support the culture of steroids and raise awareness of its risks among athletes.

Minister Sobhy further cited the depth of the good relations between the Egyptian government and the International Anti-steroids Agency “Alwada” and the organization’s regional office in Africa.

Sobhy pointed out the full coordination between the Ministry of Youth and Sport with all responsible for the anti-Steroids files either within Egypt or Africa in cooperation with the International Anti-Steroids Agency in order to provide a fair and healthy environment for practising clean sports in order to achieve the goal of the steroids-free sport.

In his remarks, Swigler expressed his appreciation and thankfulness to the Minister of Youth and Sports for the support given by the Egyptian government to the sports system in Africa, especially in the field of combating steroids.

In the end, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr Ashraf Sobhy, upon arrival in South Africa, signed a bilateral cooperation protocol with his South African counterpart Mr Zizi Kadwa, in the presence of the Egyptian Ambassador Ahmed Al-Fadli, Deputy Ambassador Advisor Muhammad Qandil, and Consul Ahmed Shid, at the headquarters of the Egyptian Embassy.
